Understanding how usage works in WordCrafter helps you maximize your SEO efforts while managing your resources efficiently. This article explains important aspects such as input and output tokens, post credits, usage of different AI models, and credit rollover.

What are input and output tokens?

Tokens are credits consumed when interacting with WordCrafter's AI models.

  • Input Tokens are spent when you provide instructions or context to the AI (e.g., indicating in the prompt key points to mention, angle you want to use and/or data points you want to cover).

  • Output Tokens are used when the AI generates content for you, including new text or optimized existing content.

For reference, approximately every 1,000 words equates to around 1,300 tokens, whether for input or output.

What counts as a new post?

A new post credit can be used in one of the following ways:

  1. Create new content from scratch.

  2. Optimize existing content, improving its SEO and readability.

  3. Generate a detailed content brief, including search intent research, an outline, and writing guidelines.

Each "post" credit allows you to perform one of these tasks, tracking your usage against your plan limits.

How do different AI models affect my token usage?

WordCrafter supports multiple AI models, each with different capabilities and token consumption rates:

  • Premium models (e.g., GPT-4.5): Provide highly sophisticated results but consume more tokens and have slower response times.

  • Standard models (e.g., Claude Sonnet 3.7, GPT-4o, Gemini 2.0 Pro): Offer balanced token consumption, performance, and response speed, ideal for most tasks.

  • Economy models (e.g., GPT-4o mini, Claude Haiku 3.5, Gemini 2.0 Flash): Efficient for basic tasks, consuming fewer tokens and delivering faster responses, but less suitable for complex requirements.

Strategically choosing your AI model can optimize token usage based on your specific content needs. Complex or technical content might require premium models such as GPT-4.5) but standard models such as Claude Sonnet 3.7 or GPT-4o and Gemini 2.0 Pro might be good enough for standard content.

You can easily compare token limits per AI model by visiting our pricing page and selecting your preferred AI model from the model selector beneath the plan details.

Will unused credits roll over to the next billing cycle?

Unused credits (new posts, input tokens, and output tokens) do not roll over to the next billing cycle. To make the most of your subscription, aim to fully utilize your credits within each billing cycle.

By understanding these usage guidelines, you can choose the best strategies and models for your SEO and content creation efforts with WordCrafter.
